Observation #2: AI Speeds Up Coding—But Delivering a Final Product Is Still Hard
I’ve found it hard to deliver a final product by AI-assistant programming. AI helps speed up coding and documentation; it’s not good at making things perfect.
- AI gets you to “it works” quickly. Getting to “correct, consistent, and shippable” still takes human review, testing, and iteration—the last 10% is where the assistant drops off.
- Polish is a human job. Edge cases, naming, structure, and product feel are decisions. AI suggests; you decide. Without someone insisting “this isn’t good enough yet,” AI-assisted work tends to stay “good enough for now.”
Use AI to go faster. Don’t expect it to close the gap to a final product on its own.
